hola mis queridos amigos
This week wasnt too eventful but here's what I have to recollect.
- last week I talked about how we aquired Mitla into our area. One day we were walkin the streets of Mitla, looking for this lady that hadnt attended church in a while. As we approached the lady's house, this moto taxi (basically like a tricycle motorcycle with a covered space for passengers in back) rolled up on us. There was a maybe 6'4 300 lbs guy driving with lighter complexion covered with face tattoos. He just looked at us and grinned very suspiciously. I greeted him in Spanish, "buenas tardes amigo!" and he responded in a thick southern accent "so how long you guys been out here?" I didn't know how to respond because I was just in shock hahaha. Anyways, we got to talking and apparently he's a local legend. Everyone calls him "Papa John". He was telling us stories about how he has bounties on him and people have been after him his entire life. It wasn't really clear why he lives in Mexico, but knowing the plot of the movie Masterminds I don't really care to know lol. Very interesting interaction.
- We joined the choir this week with all the missionaries in our district. It doesn't always sound the most beautiful but that's okay it's the effort that counts hahaha.
- Spanish has been feeling good lately. Every time someone is talking bad about us in Spanish I pretend to be oblivious at first. Then once theyre done I'll try and go strike up a conversation with them. I love seeing the shame in their eyes when they realize we understood them the whole time jajajaj.
- My comp had to renew his green card this week so we traveled to the mission offices and he left with his generation around like 8:30am. They had me and 3 other missionaries just stay at the offices alone while they were gone. We were told to do our personal studies and that everyone would return in 2 hours. That was quite literally the biggest lie I have ever heard in my entire life. We studied for about 2 1/2 hours then all got a little antsy. One of the secretary's of materials showed up out of no where and let us pack the material orders for all the areas. That passed about another 3 hours. Then I got introduced to Trompos which are these cool little like spinner things idk look em up. Sat around a while longer, and finally after 7 hours they returned. Got some pizza afterward so it all made up for the waste of the day. But yea that was fun.
Idk I can't really think of anything else hahaha. Until next time :)
